Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a diverse ethnic background. Jacqueline's father Elroy Fernandez comes from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is Malaysian. She has two brothers and one older sister. She was born and raised in Bahrain. The family of her parents relocated to Bahrain in the 80s due to the civil war that occurred in Sri Lanka. She received a scholarship to attend the University of Sydney in Sydney Australia following the completion of her schooling in Bahrain. To enhance her interest in the world of languages, cultures and languages, she was enrolled at the Berlitz school of languages, where she was able to study Spanish in addition to improving French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006 and she was also crowned Miss Universe 2006 also. She entered television after winning the Miss Sri Lanka title. Her program, Lanka Business Report, is about business in Sri Lanka. Padukone (the mother of former badminton player Prakash Padukone) was born and grew up in Bangalore. Padukone played in the national championships as young teenagers, however she decided to give her sports career up in order to be a model. Padukone was born in Mangalore in India. Her mother tongue Konkani is her origin. Her lineage hails from Padukone village, which is located in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District of the state of Karnataka, India. Prakash Padukone has retired as an international badminton player and her mother is also a travel agent.
